Voter Registration check online - CEO Karnataka website
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Karnataka has opened a website for citizens to "Register" and the check if they are on the General Voter rolls or not - Assembly Constituency-wise. This is a welcome step. But we often see the website disappear immediately after the elections.
The website link is here.
The steps are as follows:
Register by clicking the link below the login button. Fill up the fields and clcik submit.
Receive an email providing the login name and password.
Go back to the website and enter the login name & password and click the login button
On the page that follows, you have various choices.
The questions are -
If we can submit documents online for a general election, WHY must we have to register all over again (afresh) for the Graduates Constituency elections? WHY can't we just produce the proof of graduation at the polling booth along with our Voter ID Card?
Will this not encourage duplicate registrations here and elsewhere?
Why must the MLC registration be manual? Why not make it online as well?
The Government is notorious for making life difficult for Citizens, and the CEO is no different! When will we get the "benefits" of democracy without having to struggle for it?
