Who We Are
We full members are citizens of BBMP Ward 151, Koramangala, Bangalore, India.
We are a fellowship of men and women who share their views, experience and provide mutual assistance to each other to solve our common problems and make our ward a great place to live in.
We also share simple, every day information with each other so that we may as a community enjoy a happy, effective and stress free life especially with respect to dealing with civic problems we face as individuals and as a community.
Ours is a FREE online forum & community. Registered resident users post messages in online forums, post responses, make suggestions and in the case of ‘Active Citizens’ raise these issues with the concerned authorities. We are self supporting through our own contributions.
The community welcomes and encourages residents who will volunteer for community service and take charge of organizing community events and assist in managing this online community.
We meet from time to time as need arises.
Our Operating Principles
Our primary purpose is to help each other make our locality a better place to live in.
We are self supporting through our own contributions to help preserve our independence.
As a group, we are not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution and neither endorse nor oppose any causes. However our community polls may show our collective views on topics.
Individual members are, however, free to share their views, experience and hope with the community on any topic.
Profanity and other undesirable language would make the offender liable for ejection without any notice.
Personal attacks are not allowed on the community message board/s.
It is the community's stated intention to use its strength as a group to carry weight with the authorities and politicians.
What we are not
This community is not an RWA and neither is it intended to be. The RWAs in Koramangala and elsewhere are doing great work and are best supported, not competed with. Neither are we an NGO. Of these we have many in Bangalore who are also doing commendable work.
We are an online community of residents, focused on local issues but open and influenced by the larger city happenings. As we grow, individual members would step forward to take specific responsibilities connected with coordinating with civic authorities for solving common problems. In time, we will also take up social work as decided by the community. This is a platform for all residents/citizens, experts, civic leaders, RWAs and NGOs to use to speak to residents in particular and to citizens at large.
We are also not intending to be the 'local' media, although visitors to the website would get localised information and community chatter. Instead the media would get leads from the contents of this portal!
